Is it possible they prayed Eucharistic prayer in Latin to give the mass a universal orientation? Just trying to think through their reasoning.
Personally, I'd have loved to hear the Prayers of the Faithful in several Indigenous languages. Another missed opportunity.
So RIGHT ON…Glen….I to felt the homily was so lacking in awareness of the depth of harm the colonial domination and residential schools have visited on the aboriginal peoples…that I cannot see how it helped reconciliation efforts at all.
